BudapestGO now even shows you which metro car to board

Budapest, 29 September 2026 – Should you board at the front, in the middle, or perhaps at the back of the train? BKK has updated BudapestGO with a new feature that now helps passengers with this issue too. When planning a metro route, the app shows exactly which car to choose so that passengers can reach the exit at their destination as quickly as possible, or transfer to another metro line more easily. The new feature will be rolled out gradually and will be available to all users within a few days.

BKK is constantly developing BudapestGO so that the app can provide assistance with an ever-increasing number of aspects of everyday travel. One of the most important new features of the update due on 29 September 2026 – which will be available to all users within a few days – is that, during journey planning, the app now also shows which part of the train you should board when travelling on the metro network.

This new feature is particularly useful for journeys where passengers have little time to change trains or are unfamiliar with a particular metro station. At the same time, the feature can also help those who regularly travel the same route to reach the exit more directly, rather than wasting a few extra minutes or having to walk longer .

The new feature also plans accessible routes without any extra settings

The new feature works automatically, without the need for any specific settings; in other words, if the route recommended by BudapestGO involves a metro journey, the app will indicate which car to board for a quicker exit or a faster transfer between metro lines.

The app also takes into account whether a user is planning an accessible route. In this case, it recommends the car closest to an exit with a lift, and only plans routes that are barrier free.

BudapestGO is constantly evolving

This latest update marks another stage in the ongoing development of BudapestGO. BKK takes customer needs and feedback into account when making improvements; the recommendation regarding metro cars was a request that appeared in several customer feedback submissions. The aim is for BudapestGO to provide travellers with an ever-increasing amount of information to help them choose their route, thereby making public transport faster, more predictable and more convenient.
