Budapest, 26 June 2026 – Starting today, those who currently have a valid public transport pass in the BudapestGO app, as well as those who purchased an annual or semi-annual MOL Bubi pass in 2024 or 2025, can register to try out the new generation of MOL Bubi. BKK is rolling out the MOL Bubi service in several phases: in addition to the closed test currently underway, a wider range of users will be able to test the new system in the next phase; initially, the company will offer this opportunity to the first 5,000 applicants, and the pool of participants may be expanded continuously thereafter.
The trial available to customers begins on 2 July. Starting on that date, those who currently hold a valid BudapestGO pass (of any type), as well as those who purchased an annual or semi-annual MOL Bubi pass in 2024 or 2025, can test the service free of charge, while BKK continuously monitors its operation and fine-tunes the system based on feedback.
BKK launched the closed testing period on 19 June, with the aim of further developing the new public bike-sharing system based on experience gained under real-world conditions. At the same time, the distinctive green MOL Bubi bikes began appearing on the streets of Budapest.

To participate in the customer trial, registration is open from 26 June to 10:00 on 29 June on the BKK website; initially, the first 5,000 applicants will be able to participate, and BKK plans to gradually expand the pool of participants. Those selected will receive detailed terms and conditions, as well as information on how to use the service, via email when the test begins.
The new MOL Bubi is coming with a larger fleet and e-bikes
The next generation of MOL Bubi represents a step forward in every respect: a larger, flexibly expandable fleet—consisting of both traditional and electric-assist bicycles—will be available. Following the launch, BKK will continuously increase the number of bicycles; after the initial period, it will provide a total of 3,300 bicycles (2,500 conventional and 800 electric-assist), and capacity is expected to grow further in the future.
The goal of introducing electric-assist bicycles is to serve a broader user base and reach customers for whom the MOL Bubi service has not been a realistic alternative for some reason, but who can now safely choose it.
