Budapest, 27 May 2026. - BKK jointly with its service providers and related authorities have well prepared for the UEFA Champions League Final to be held on 30 May (Saturday): apart from the more frequent services, significantly more professionals will do their utmost best in order services of the several day-long event series affecting 60 thousand fans and key urban spots could be executed smoothly. BKK would like to kindly ask fans and Budapest’s residents that they opt for public transport services during the event, primarily metro services to be provided more frequently, in order that they could reach their destination fast and reliably. The UEFA Champions League Final has been one of the major challenges for the transport system of the Hungarian capital for recent years. Since the opening of the Puskás Arena, BKK along with its service providers, such as BKV Zrt. and ArrivaBus have gained experience in providing public transport services in over 50 outstanding events. The UEFA Champions League Final to be held on 30 May (Saturday) is already the fourth UEFA event of this kind, during which Budapest’s mobility manager and public transport organisor, a.k.a BKK Centre for Budapest Transport and its service providers play a crucial role.
BKK played an outstanding role in the event’s preparation based on several months of coordinated preliminary works, in order the transport services of approximately 60 thousand fans could be safe and convenient. It adds to the complexity of the organisation of public transport services that on the matchday not only Puskás Arena but several urban spots, such as City Park, Heroes’ Square and MTK Sportpark at Kerepesi út will also serve as key meeting points, which implies both significant traffic burden and also complex transport organising tasks for BKK.
Events to be held at several spots
Traffic related to the UEFA Champions League Final will be distributed among several spots in the Hungarian capital. Besides Puskás Arena, the several day-long Champions Festival to be organised at Heroes’ Square, events to be held at Papp László Budapest Sportaréna and also the Fan Meeting Points to be found at the City Park (Városliget) and MTK Sportpark at Kerepesi út will play key roles. More frequent lines

Also regular airport buslines will run significantly more frequently: between 29 and 31 May, 100E Airport Express and busline 200E will together depart every 2-3 minutes and also on the previous and subsequent days 20-30 surplus buses will help provide better services.
Due to increased demands, Terminal 1 at Liszt Ferenc International Airport will open for three days, from where, dedicated 100E Airport Express buses will be running to the city centre prior to the match and also a mobile ticket booth will help passengers arriving in the Hungarian capital. In the period following the match, every line reaching the airport, such as the 100E Airport Express, busline 200E stop at Ferihegy vasútállomás, to serve Terminal 1.
Match ticket holders can take advantage of free travel on all public transport services, including 100E Airport Express between 29 and 31 May.
Reinforced traffic surveillance, enhanced passenger information services
In addition to providing more frequent services, BKK prepares for the match with reinforced on-site presence. In the three day-long period, circa 70-80 passenger coordinators and traffic surveillance employees will help passengers and vehicles’ transport along different spots in Budapest, such as at the airport, in the surrounding area of Puskás Arena and at key transport hubs - e.g. at Deák Ferenc tér and at Heroes Square. Besides, temporary passenger information devices, helping passengers getting around Budapest will be placed at 30 locations throughout the city.
The UEFA Champions League Final is implemented through widespread cooperative work, hence BKK tightly works together with the National Event Management Agency, Budapest Airport, the police authority, the National Ambulance Service, the National Directorate General for Disaster Management, among other service providers.
Traffic restrictions, due to the event
In the surrounding area of the Puskás Arena and also at other locations, traffic restrictions are expected and certain areas will be accessible solely on foot on the matchday.
In the course of transport organising, the public transport policy will be in place along several routes, ensuring fast and reliable access to the spots of the venue: for instance, on the matchday, circa from 8:00 to 17:00 the police authority will close the express road leading to Liszt Ferenc International Airport and will provide passage solely for public transport vehicles.
