Description

The TRA (Transport Research Arena) is a biennial transportation conference organized by the European Commission, which will take place in Budapest in 2026. The conference was created by the European Commission based on the model of the American TRB (Transport Research Board), with the goal of making it the largest transportation event of its kind in Europe (apart from the occasional global transportation events held in Europe). At the 2024 TRA held in Dublin, over 4,500 people from more than 50 countries participated, and similar interest is expected at the 2026 Budapest TRA.

The project's goal is to have the preparation of the conference carried out by a competent consortium, whose permanent members include ECTRI and FEHRL (European umbrella organizations), the main organizer of the preceding conference (in this case, University College Dublin), as well as the key organizations and research institutes involved in transportation in the organizing country. The task of this consortium is to prepare, organize, and execute the 2026 TRA conference, including both the professional program and the related competitions and site visits.

BKK is responsible for coordinating the preparation, organization, and execution of the site visits, and also participates in shaping and executing the professional program of the sessions focusing on urban transportation.
