Travel discounts

It is a paramount importance for BKK to help persons with physical impairment to get around, by providing free and discounted travel to persons with physical impairment who receive higher family allowance, disability benefit, disability pension or disability allowance. Entitlement to free and discounted travels must be verified in all cases by an official document.

Local transport

Passengers are entitled to travel in possession of the Monthly Budapest-pass for pensioners within the administrative boundaries of Budapest and in possession of the Metropolitan area local pass for pensioners on regional buses within the administrative boundaries of Diósd, Budakeszi, Budaörs, Gyál, Nagykovácsi, Remeteszőlős, Solymár, Szigetszentmiklós, Törökbálint and Pécel.

The official ID Certificate entitling to travel discounts issued by the Hungarian State Treasury (between 1 April 2015 and 31 October 2017, by the Central Administration of National Pension Insurance) along with the personal photo ID

Persons receiving disability benefits

The official ID Certificate entitling to travel discounts issued by the Hungarian State Treasury (between 1 April 2015 and 31 October 2017, by the Central Administration of National Pension Insurance) along with the personal photo ID

Also one accompanying person of the disabled person being in possession of the official ID certificate is entitled to free travel, only while accompanying the disabled person.

No verification is required.

 

Regional transport 

Children and persons with severe disabilities receiving higher family allowance based on their official ID Certificate issued by the Hungarian State Treasury (between 1 April 2015 and 31 October 2017, by the Central Administration of National Pension Insurance) along with from the age 7+ based on their student ID or photo ID are entitled to use the suburban railway service outside the administrative boundaries of Budapest in possession of the Suburban railway ticket -90% or Suburban railway pass - 90%. One accompanying person of the passenger being in possession of an official ID Certificate is entitled to a ticket -90%, only while accompanying the passenger in question.

Persons being in possession of a travel document are entitled to travel on regional buslines and the suburban railway service either in possession of the Metropolitan area ticket -50% or -90% or a suburban railway ticket of their choice for a definite number of occasions per annum.

 

Door to door service 

The on-demand shuttle service can be requested in advance on workdays between 5:30 and 23:30 and at weekends between 8:00 and 16:00. This service is dedicated to customers with physical impairment and their accompanying persons who can use the service in possession of a full-fare or discounted ticket/pass, based on their entitlement, as shown in the fare. 


Please contact a BKK dispatcher with your travel request on workdays between 8:00 and 16:00 prior to the planned date of travel who will confirm the possible travel time based on the quantity of travel requests. First priority is given to regular customers who use the service for daily commutes, e.g. to school. In the case of other customers, BKK prioritises based on the times the requests were received and also depending on availability.
