Millenium Underground Railway
The first underground railway in continental Europe; in operation since 1896, now you can travel between Vörösmarty tér and Mexikói út, please check the planned timetables here or you can plan your journey with the BudapestGO app. You can travel with single tickets and passes as well on the underground. Regular BKK fares apply, please pay attention to the validation as enter the station.
Buda Castle Funicular
Link between the Royal Castle and the riverbank since 1870. You are entitled to use the services of the Buda Castle Funicular only in possession of a ticket on sale by BKV Zrt. on the spot in the Funicular’s ticket office. Other tickets or passes issued by BKK, travel certificates or other documents certifying the right for free travel do not apply to the Funicular. Before your ride, you need to validate your ticket with the validating machine.

Chairlift
Weather permitting, the cableway carries passengers to János-hegy, the highest point in Buda. The Zugliget Chairlift is to be used in possession of a valid Chairlift ticket to be purchased either on the spot or at the TVMs of the Chairlift operated by BKV Zrt. or at BKV Zrt’s contracted partners or at the Chairlift’s buffets. Please note that other tickets, passes, travel IDs and other IDs and certificates entitling to other discounts are not valid for the Chairlift. You can find more details about the Chairlift here.
Cogwheel railway
One of Budapest’s oldest means of transport, this steep grade railway takes you up Széchenyi-hegy in Buda. Plan your trip with the cogwheel railway via BudapestGO application or check the planned departures here. In the early mornings and late evenings, on-demand service applies to the Cogwheel railway. Please pay attention to the schedule. During the on-demand periods, please request the service in advance, by contacting BKK call center on +36 1 3 255 255 phone number or visit our dedicated website at telefogas.bkk.hu no later than 30 minutes before the departure. Regular BKK fares apply, please pay attention to the validation.
Transport heritage - historic tram
Almost all of the iconic vehicles produced by domestic manufacturers ran on Budapest’s streets, many of which have been successfully salvaged and renovated for posterity in the past few years. Thanks to these unique means of transport representing different eras, enthusiasts have been able to ride aboard vehicles that once were part of Budapest residents’ everyday lives and now form the public transport heritage fleet in scheduled operation in the summer season. During the season of operation from May to October, heritage rides running along the Danube (line N19) delight local residents and visitors alike.
Besides vintage vehicles, travel on retro ones evoking the 1980s and 1990s have also been offered in Budapest. Classic vehicles are types that no longer or very rarely operate in daily passenger transport, but used to be characteristic elements of the urban landscape. Classic rides will take you, among others, to the Chairlift in the Buda Hills (line R158) as well as to the wine festival in charming Budafok (line R47). The popularity of the transport heritage services is well demonstrated by the fact that several thousand passengers have enjoyed travelling on vintage and classic vehicles during the last season, too.

In the quaint town of Szentendre, next to the final station of suburban railway line H5. Open from April to October, closed on Mondays, you can check the opening hours and admission fees here.
