P+R

Some 3,800 parking spaces at P+R car parks found at the busiest locations in the capital facilitate car users to switch to public transport. Most car parks at major transport hubs are free of charge, and a multi-story car park is also available near the city centre at Rákóczi tér station on metro line M4.

Demand for parking space is increasing due to continuously increasing traffic levels. In the joint transport strategy of the Municipality of Budapest and BKK, one of the prime goals is to ease the traffic burden on the inner districts. The Budapest Mobility Plan aims to mitigate the demand for on-street parking spaces and accordingly to calm traffic in the city through the coordination of public transport and car traffic as well as through the development of the P+R network.

The revised mobility plans can eliminate congestion and create a greener Budapest.

You can find P+R car parks operated by road managing company Budapest Közút Zrt. at the outer terminuses of metro lines including Örs vezér tere, Újpest-városkapu,  KÖKI Terminál and Pillangó utca. At Kelenföld terminus of metro line M4, there are some 1,500 available parking spaces, while at the busier suburban railway and train stations several hundred spaces await car users: in Csepel, Kaszásdűlő and Cinkota, as well as at two sites in Rákoscsaba and Budafok.
