The Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest is the largest and most prestigious art museum in Hungary, housing thousands of works of art from antiquity to 1800. As a state-funded and maintained national museum, it is part of the Heroes' Square monument complex and is recognized as one of Budapest's World Heritage Sites. The museum, built between 1900 and 1906 in neo-Renaissance and neoclassical styles, was designed by Albert Schickedanz and Ferenc Herzog Fülöp. Please note that the discount is only applicable to the permanent exhibitions. These exhibitions showcase an impressive collection of international and Hungarian art, featuring masterpieces from ancient times up to the end of the eighteenth century.

 

The Museum of Fine Arts will be closed on 24 and 25 December.

Between 26 December 2025 and 4 January 2026, the permanent exhibitions will be open to visitors on only the following 3 days:

  • 29–30 December, Monday–Tuesday – entry from 10:00 to 17:00, closing from 17:30

  • 31 December, Wednesday – entry from 10:00 to 15:00, closing from 15:30
