Project name: SUMPs-Up (European Programme for Accelerating the Take up of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans)
Project Acronym: SUMPs-Up
Duration: 01.09.2016 – 29.02.2020.
Description
The SUMPs-Up project aims to accelerate the process of sustainable urban mobility planning (SUMP) and support the development of mobility plans so that SUMP can become the primary urban mobility planning practice across Europe.
Expected outcomes of the project include promoting the development of 100 sustainable urban mobility plans, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of 600 European cities. SUMPs-Up will review and integrate existing sustainable mobility development tools into a SUMP Toolkit, which will assist mobility planners in using the most appropriate tools for their local contexts.
During the three-and-a-half-year project, innovative SUMP solutions were tested in partner cities, and there were also opportunities for study visits and learning from partners.
The key tasks planned for BKK in the project are:
Active Two-Way Communication with Decision Makers: BKK has committed to having at least 10 high-level political decision-makers (members of parliament, city councilors, district mayors, committee members) complete questionnaires related to SUMP. Among these, five individuals participated in a study visit to a selected European city, supported by the project, to enrich their experiences and gain personal insights into successful international examples and practices.
Development of a Strategy for an Integrated Transport Demand Management (TDM) System: BKK has committed to preparing a sectoral strategy for the introduction of an integrated transport demand management (TDM) system in Budapest. This involves conducting an international survey on best practices, incentives, and constraints, and based on this survey, identifying applicable solutions for Budapest.
