The modern transport history of Budapest goes back more than a century. Almost all of the iconic examples of Hungarian vehicle manufacture have been on the streets of Budapest, many of which have been successfully rescued and restored in recent years. These unique-looking vehicles, representing different eras and once part of everyday life in Budapest, ha been available for the summer season from 2010 onwards as part of the regular heritage service run by BKK and BKV. There are also occasional vintage vehicles on the streets of the capital in connection with city events and holidays. In addition to the old-timers, there are now also retro vehicles that are reminiscent of the 1980s and 90s. The retro fleet comprises vehicles that are no longer in daily use, or only rarely, but used to be part of the Budapest streetscape.
