For what services is this ticket valid?
Valid on suburban buses (blue VOLÁN buses) crossing the Budapest administrative boundaries on route sections outside the city. The lines concerned are shown in the VOLÁN timetable and can also be found broken down by municipality on the BKK website.

Delay insurance (compensation) for delays of more than 20 minutes on domestic interurban bus services
If the suburban/metropolitan area bus is more than 20 minutes late arriving at your destination, you are entitled to 50% of the ticket price as compensation. To be eligible for compensation, you would have had to wait at least 15 minutes for the next scheduled service after the one you took, according to the timetable (i.e. if there had been no delay). Of course, of the later services, only the one that stops at your destination should be considered.
Delay insurance applies to the area of validity of the ticket. For example, if you are travelling from the Budaörs terminus (Budaörsi lakótelep) to the Budapest terminus (Kelenföld railway station) with a local interurban ticket and a Budapest pass, the delay insurance applies to the section between the Budaörs terminus and the administrative boundary stop (Felsőhatár utca). In this example, if the bus is only behind schedule on the Budapest section (or has already been delayed outside Budapest but not yet by more than 20 minutes), no compensation is payable. In the case of a return journey (to Budaörs) on the route mentioned in the example, the delay insurance can be claimed if the delay exceeds 20 minutes on the section of the route where the metropolitan ticket is valid, i.e. between Felsőhatár utca andBudaörs lakótelep (regardless of whether the delay occurred there or on the Budapest section).
The claim for compensation must be submitted to the customer service of MÁV within 72 hours of arrival at the destination by sending the data necessary for the identification of the tickets and the delayed service used.
