Free walking tours: Discover Pest and Buda!

Join a guided walking tour and check out the iconic sights in Budapest! You can explore the Pest and Buda sides of the Hungarian capital thoroughly with the help of professional tour guides. You can hear funny stories and interesting historical facts during the 2-hour tours.

On the Pest tour, you can discover Budapest’s most famous sights while hearing fascinating stories about the city’s past. The tour includes the bank of the River Danube, the St. Stephen’s Basilica, the Hungarian Art Nouveau House, the Parliament, and Liberty Square. If you choose the Buda side, you will find yourself in the fabulous historical setting of the Castle District, where you can visit the Royal Palace of the Buda Castle, the Matthias Church, and the Fisherman’s Bastion.

Sightseeing tours are available every day of the week — there is no need to register in advance to join a tour, just go to the meeting point and enjoy!

  • If you'd like to join the Pest walking tour, be at 31 Váci Street (in front of Molnár’s Kürtőskalács) at 10 AM on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
  • If you're more interested in the Buda side, head to Szentháromság Square in the Buda Castle District at 2 PM on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

As a city card holder, you can also take part in the Pest and Buda walking tours completely free of charge.

Immerse yourself in the history of the Jewish Quarter of Pest!

The Jewish Quarter of Pest is one of the most exciting and oldest parts of Budapest. To this day, the most important institutions and sites of Hungarian Jewish religious life are still located here, and you can learn more about them on the Jewish Heritage ToursYou can discover the capital from a completely different perspective during the guided tour while learning all about Jewish culture and heritage.

During the 2.5–3.5-hour guided tour, you can visit

  • the Dohány Street Synagoguethe largest synagogue in Europe,
  • the Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park and the Tree of Life inside, whose leaves bear the names of the martyrs of the Holocaust,
  • the Jewish Museum, which presents the rich history and culture of the Jewish community,
  • and the Kazinczy Street Synagoguethe centre of the Hungarian Orthodox community.

Tours depart twice a day from the Dohány Street Synagogue at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. every day, except on public holidays and on Fridays and Sundays, when only the 10 a.m. tour is available.

With an official city card, you will get a 10% discount on the price of the Jewish Heritage Tours.
