Due to the imminent flood, tram 2 and replacement buses schedules will be modified

Due to the imminent flooding of the Pest underpass of Lánchíd, BKK will apply special schedules for tram 2 and the replacement bus for different times of the day from the first morning departure on 6 June 2013. By applying a different schedule, BKK is doing its best to provide as complete a transport service as possible during the period of the flood even on the Danube embankment on the Pest side, too. Tram 2 will run on a shortened route from Közvágóhíd H to Eötvös tér during the period of the flood while the replacement bus will run on an extended route between Nyugati pályaudvar M and Széchenyi István tér (Eötvös tér).

Service of tram 2 during workday peak hours

Tram 2 will run between Közvágóhíd and Eötvös tér during workday peak hours between around 6:30 and 10:00 and 13:30 and 18:00 but only a single track will be used by trams between Eötvös tér and Március 15, therefore two sets of trams will leave Március 15. tér in pair towards the temporary Eötvös tér stop shortly after each other. The third arriving tram turns back at Március 15. tér and runs to Közvágóhíd according to schedule. The driver will inform passengers onboard while BKK staff will provide information to passengers at the Március 15. tér stop. This special transport schedule results in 3-6 minutes longer travel times than usual. Due to the closure of the lower Danube embankments, significant congestion is expected in the city centre and on parallel roads, therefore the more frequent service of trams 4-6 is recommended instead of tram 2 and the replacement bus, if possible.

Service of tram 2 during workday off-peak hours and on weekends

Tram 2 will run between Közvágóhíd and Eötvös tér during workday off-peak hours from the service of the first train to about 6:30, from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 18:00 to the service of the last train and during the weekends. Since only a single track will be used by trams between Eötvös tér and Március 15. tér, therefore two sets of trams will leave Március 15. tér in pair towards the temporary Eötvös tér stop shortly after each other. This special transport schedule results in about 5 minutes longer travel times than usual. Due to the closure of the lower Danube embankments, significant congestion is expected in the city centre and on parallel roads, therefore the more frequent service of trams 4-6 is recommended instead of tram 2 and the replacement bus, if possible.

Tram 2 replacement bus service

Replacement bus 2 will run on an extended route until further notice between Nyugati pályaudvar M and the Széchenyi István tér (Eötvös tér) stop of bus 16 and 105. The temporary Eötvös tér terminus of tram 2 is a two-minute walking distance away. Please board the bus at Széchenyi István tér next to the Akadémia (towards Eötvös tér) or at the Vigyázó Ferenc utca intersection (towards Nyugati pályaudvar M). Due to the closure of the lower Danube embankments, significant congestion is expected in the city centre and on parallel roads, therefore the more frequent service of trams 4-6 is recommended to passengers heading to the city centre coming from the direction of Közvágóhíd instead of tram 2 and the replacement bus.
