From 18 April to 22 May 2015 – Pedestrians, motorists, cyclists, chairlift

From 18 April 2015 (Saturday) the designated pedestrian paths on Széll Kálmán tér will be modified due to pavement and track constructions. The metro building and the bus terminus on Margit körút (e.g. the boarding point of tram replacement buses 4 and 6) will be accessible from the Káplár utca temporary terminus of tram 61 as it is indicated on the map below. On-the-spot information boards showing the recommended pedestrian paths are also located at Széll Kálmán tér in order to help the pedestrians find their ways.

On 9 May (Saturday) and 10 (Sunday) 2015, reconstruction works will be carried out in Dékán utca at the intersection of Széll Kálmán tér in relation to the refurbishment works of Széll Kálmán tér, therefore the traffic lane will be accessible in Dékán utca only in the direction of Fény utca. During the above-mentioned weekend, only one lane will be open to traffic in the direction of Fény utca. For passengers going from Fillér utca, it is recommended to detour Dékán utca on the route section Ezredes utca- Szilágyi Erzsébet fasor-Széll Kálmán tér.

Road traffic changes on Margit körút

Also from Saturday, the road traffic changes on Margit körút between Széll Kálmán tér and Széna tér: on the previously 2 x 2-lane roadway the lane in the direction of Széna tér will be reinstated to its original place, but only the right lane will be available for motorists towards Széna tér. The left lane will be available only for the traffic heading to Széll Kálmán tér from Csalogány utca. In parallel with these, Ostrom utca will be accessible again from Széll Kálmán tér. Traffic coming from Margit körút will be able to use only the outsides lane, on the houses-side of the road. In the inside lane and on the central island, public utility and track refurbishment works will be carried out. The pedestrian crossing on Margit körút at the exit of the bus terminus remains closed, therefore pedestrians are advised to cross at Dékán utca.

Road traffic changes at the intersection of Krisztina körút–Csaba utca

During the night of 18–19 April (Saturday-Sunday), traffic from the two Margit körút lanes to Krisztina körút will be directed to the new roadway on Krisztina körút. At the same time the traffic alignment at the junction of Szilágyi Erzsébet fasor and the square will change: two right-turn lanes will be open to Krisztina körút without traffic light while the lane going straight to the square will be signalled.

We kindly ask cyclists to use the bypasses during the reconstruction of Széll Kálmán tér.

The area will be accessible for cyclists from the spring of 2016.
