What is the difference between a single ticket and a time-based ticket?

A single ticket is valid for a single journey on a single line, without any trip interruptions or return journeys. The only exception to this is metro lines, where you can transfer once between lines, as with paper tickets.

The main advantage of a time-based ticket is that you can make an unlimited number of transfers within the validity period, allowing you to make return journeys and any number of interruptions. The time-based ticket must be validated every time you change vehicles.
