How to use time-based tickets?

Time-based tickets can be purchased in advance and must be validated by scanning the code stickers before the journey starts and at each transfer thereafter. Time-based tickets can be used for an unlimited number of transfers within the validity period, but must be validated by scanning the code at each boarding. A journey started within the validity period can be completed after the expiry of the time limit within Budapest, even to the final destination, as the time-based ticket is valid until the time of disembarkation.

After the code has been scanned, an animated image is displayed, which must be shown to access control staff at metro stations or to the driver in the case of services where you must board through the front door. The code must also be scanned on vehicles where the front-door boarding policy does not apply, but the ticket does not need to be presented.
