Dr Ivett Varga named CEO of BKK from 1 February 2020

Dr Ivett Varga has been appointed to lead BKK as the new CEO starting from 1 February 2020. The transport professional has been selected through an open competition by the Budapest Mayor’s Office.

Ms Varga studied at Eötvös Lóránd University and the University of Economics in Budapest (today’s Corvinus University). She has been the Director of Strategy and Innovation since 2019.

Transport organising in a sustainable way is of strategic importance when striving to create a liveable and green capital city.

The new Chief Executive Officer is tasked with the implementation of the capital’s transport management and development programmes, with organising public transport as well as with carrying out a reform of key transport projects along with road management and traffic control related activities.

One of the most serious professional competitions has taken place among the contenders for the post of BKK CEO. I am glad that a professional has won who already knows the company from the inside. I am confident that Ivett Varga will be the Municipality’s perfect partner in ensuring that Budapest transport can meet global challenges increasingly better”- commented Mr Gergely Karácsony in connection with the recent appointment.
