Transport changes in Budapest’s city centre during the Great Run event on 30 April and 1 May 2019

The Great Run, the race of cars and motorbikes will be organised also in 2019 in Budapest, due to which during the daytime on 1 May 2019 (Wednesday) and owing to the preparation works on 30 April (Tuesday evening), traffic will be restricted on Andrássy út, Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út, Károly körút and in the surrounding area. Due to the road closure, traffic of the relating transport lines will be modified. BKK requests that passengers travelling to or in the downtown on 1 May approach their destination by fixed-railed public transport, instead of cars: trains will start more frequently than usual during the day on all four metro lines and tram lines 4 and 6. On 1 May, metro line M3 runs between Nagyvárad tér and Újpest-központ. From Nagyvárad tér to Kőbánya-Kispest, metro replacement buses will be in operation. Between 6:00 and 18:00 on 1 May, busline 100E runs between Kálvin tér M and Liszt Ferenc International Airport, not serving the Deák Ferenc tér and Astoria stops. During this time period, in possession of the pre-purchased single ticket in the amount of HUF 900, metroline M3 can be used between Deák Ferenc tér and Kálvin tér, without the need to purchase an extra ticket.  On 1 May, Sunday and public holiday schedules apply for departures of public transport lines.
