REAL-TIME TRAFFIC CHANGES ON 15 MARCH

 

TRANSPORT SCHEDULES DURING THE LONG WEEKEND OF 12-15 MARCH 

BKK services on the long weekend of 12-15 March will run according to the following schedules:

  • Saturday, 12 March: Saturday schedule applies
  • Sunday, 13 March: public holiday schedule applies
  • Monday, 14 March: Saturday schedule applies
  • Tuesday, 15 March: public holiday schedule applies

  • On 12 and 13 March, metro M3 will run between Lehel tér and Újpest-központ. Replacement buses will be available between Kőbánya-Kispest and Lehel tér.
  • On 14 and 15 March, metro M3 will run between Kőbánya-Kispest and Nagyvárad tér and between Újpest-központ and Lehel tér. Replacement buses will be available between Nagyvárad tér and Lehel tér.

PLANNED SERVICE CHANGES ON 15 MARCH 

Due to the festivities, you should be prepared for changes in public transport and road restrictions in the city centre and around the Buda upper embankments, so avoid the city centre by car. We recommend that you travel by fixed-rail transport, such as metro lines M2 and M4, or trams 2, 4 and 6 – all of which will be running more frequently.

Planned road traffic changes on 15 March 

  • Closures are planned between 12:00 and 18:00 on the following streets: Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út, Károly körút, Pázmány Péter sétány, Dombóvári út on the section between Pázmány Péter sétány and Budafoki út; Váci út between Nyugati tér and Lehel tér as well as Andrássy út between Bajcsy Zsilinszky út and Oktogon. 
  • Sectional and periodic closure between 12:00 and 15:00 of the following route: Elvis Presley park – Margit híd – Szent István körút – Nyugati tér – Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út – Alkotmány utca – Kossuth Lajos tér
  • Sectional and periodic closure between 13:00 and 15:00 of the following route: Március 15. tér – Belgrád rakpart – Fővám tér – Szabadság híd – Szent Gellért tér
  • Múzeum utca will be closed between 7:00 and 22:00 
  • Traffic restrictions expected along Műegyetem rakpart already starting from 12 May

Due to the events at Kossuth Lajos tér, trams 2 and 2M coming from the south will run from dawn on 14 March to 6:30 on 16 March only to Kossuth Lajos tér (Széchenyi rakpart) stop.

Margit híd and Szent István körút are expected to be closed between 12:00 and 15:30 due to a marching event, so trams 4 and 6 will run between their South Buda terminuses and Oktogon.

Margit híd and Szent István körút are expected to be closed between 12:00 and 15:30 due to a marching event, so tram 17 coming from the south will terminate at Széll Kálmán tér, trams 19 and 41 will terminate at Batthyány tér. Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út will be partially closed between Váci út and Andrássy út from 12:00 to 18:00, therefore metro M3, buses 9, 15 and 115 from South Pest and trolleybus 72M will terminate at Deák Ferenc tér.

 

 
 
 

Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út will be partially closed between Váci út and Andrássy út from 12:00 to 18:00, therefore from the north, metro replacement bus M3 will run to Oktogon, trolleybuses 72M and 73M will run on the route of line 76 to Jászai Mari tér, while buses 15 and 115 buses will run to Lehel tér. 

 

 

Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út will be partially closed between Váci út and Andrássy út from 12:00 to 18:00, therefore buses 105 and 178 will serve the Kossuth Lajos utca – Rákóczi út – Thököly út – Dózsa György út route to bypass the closed area.

Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út will be partially closed between Váci út and Andrássy út from 12:00 to 18:00, therefore trolleybuses 70 and 78 will run on a shortened route between Erzsébet királyné útja, aluljáró (70) and Keleti pályaudvar (78) and Nagykörút (Akácfa utca).

Restrictions are expected from 13:00 to 15:00 due to a marching event on the section between Március 15. tér and Szent Gellért tér (note: until 20:00 along the Műegyetem rakpart). During the close of Szabadság híd (bridge), trams 47 and 49 will terminate at Batthyány tér in Buda instead of Deák Ferenc tér in Pest.

Restrictions are expected from 13:00 to 15:00 due to a marching event on the section between Március 15. tér and Szent Gellért tér (note: until 20:00 along the Műegyetem rakpart). Bus 154 is expected to run on a shortened route between 13:00 and 20:00, from Gazdagrét - Kelenföld only to Újbuda-központ, and will not serve the Budapart and Infopark areas.

Restrictions are expected from 13:00 to 15:00 due to a marching event on the section between Március 15. tér and Szent Gellért tér (note: until 20:00 along the Műegyetem rakpart). During the closure of Március 15. tér, trams 2 and 2M will operate only between Közvágóhíd and Boráros tér stops.

Buda Castle Walk, free admission to the St. Stephen's Hall, the Hauszmann Story exhibition and the New World Born exhibition in the Southern Palaces, the You Will Have Your Cannon exhibition on the first floor of the General Guard House; festive programmes in the Military History Museum. 

How to get there by public transport:

  • Buda Castle buses: 16, 16A and 116

 

📍 VÁRKERT BAZÁR, ALL DAY

Children's activities, interactive playhouse, craft activities.

How to get there by public transport:

  • Clark Ádám tér: trams 19 and 41 (the trams will be out of service from 13:00 to 15:00 between Batthyány tér and Szent Lukács Gyógyfürdő)
  • Várkert Bazár: bus 105
  • Szarvas tér: bus 5 and 178

 

📍 KOSSUTH LAJOS TÉR, 9:00

  • Kossuth Lajos tér: metro line M2
  • Kossuth Lajos tér (Széchenyi rakpart): trams 2 and 2M 

 

📍 THE POWER BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE - 15 MARCH GOVERNMENT CHANGE RALLY, FROM 13:30

Marching event on the route Március 15. tér–Belgrád rakpart–Fővám tér–Szabadság híd–Budafoki út–Műegyetem rakpart.

How to get there by public transport:

  • Március 15. tér: trams 2 and 2M; bus lines 5, 7, 8E, 15, 105, 108E, 110, 110E, 112, 115, 133E and 178
  • Szent Gellért tér: metro line M4; tram 19, 41, 47, 49, 56 and 56A; bus 7 (Trams 19 and 41 will be out of service from 13:00 to 15:00 between Batthyány tér and Szent Lukács Gyógyfürdő. From 14:00 to 15:00, trams 47 and 49 will terminate at Batthyány tér instead of the official terminus at Deák Ferenc tér.
